I have been playing sims since it was introduced to me in the 90s. I jumped on the Sims 2 bandwagon with some hesitancy, fearing that if I switched I'd never play Sims 1 again. I was right. But it was worth it =) Recently I bought Sims 3, but I still prefer Sims 2.
A few years ago I got really bored with my sims..I'd already been playing cheat-free for years, and eventually it seemed like my families followed the exact same patterns and even raising kids had become super easy. I needed something new... First I spiced it up with custom content, but eventually that wasn't enough either. Sure, my houses were awesome and my sims looked fantastic, but they were still the same on the inside. And then I came across the 'build a city challenge'. It was exactly what my sims playing needed. Since that fateful day a few years ago, I have attempted two versions of the BACC with four neighborhoods. Unfortunately, crisis struck..several times (viruses, death, etc..) So I kept having to restart my sims.
Recently, while very very bored, I discovered that there are hundreds of sims challenges out there (and yes, I do live under a rock) and last summer I found the Test of Time Challenge. The first time I read it I thought 'oh, that's kinda cool' and then it slowly starting eating away at my brain until I was obsessively researching European historical periods and writing my own TOT rules. I was eating, sleeping, and dreaming this challenge, but didn't have my sims with me to eh-hem 'get my fix'. Now I have my sims, and guess what? I'm ready to start.
