HIERARCHY
Monarch
High Lords (Nobles and Senatorial Patricians)
may build small castles and be paid by their underlings, who settle around their castle
They pay weekly homage to the monarch
may gift land to their vessels to be cultivated, have serfs and slaves, and knights
Religious Clergyman (from priests)
live in a monastery
Knights (from soldiers)
must have a ‘patron’ or lord to whom they offer fealty
Vassels (lesser nobles)
live on land ‘owned’ by high lords & Barons, may have serfs and slaves
could elevate to lord with enough money & by currying favor with the king
smaller than 3×3 lot, no jobs, pay all taxes to lord +1/4 each harvest
Peasant Townspeople (artisans/craftsman and Plebeians)
may work in businesses owned by lords
live in apartments in groups of 4 on smallest lot, which should have no grass
may not fish or farm (duh, they live in town)
apartment fees paid to local lord
Peasant Serfs (farmers)
work on others farms, may not own land, may not have jobs
are not paid, but may only keep enough from harvest to survive, barely
Slaves
anyone conquered becomes a slave
cheapest necessities, 1 meal/day, may be killed by owners at random
with 50/50 relationship, may be elevated to serf
Vikings
create a Viking family or two at the start of the middle ages OR use tribal northerners
no jobs or farms, but may fish for food. No birth control, but if raiding they won’t have time..
